Charlotte Atkins

Dr Charlotte Atkinson is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist based in Somerset, specialising in the treatment of breast and colorectal cancers. She studied at the University of Edinburgh before completing specialist oncology training in North London, where she received the Gold Award in the FRCR Part 2 examination.

In 2016, Charlotte moved to Sydney with her family and spent two years as a Research Fellow at St George Hospital. During this time, she led a research project investigating the use of pregabalin to reduce radiotherapy-related dysphagia and collaborated with radiotherapy physicists and dosimetrists to develop advanced lung stereotactic ablative radiotherapy techniques designed to minimise irradiation of healthy lung tissue.

Since becoming a Consultant in Somerset in 2020, Dr Atkinson is passionate about patient-centred and integrative cancer care. She is particularly interested in the role of the microbiome in cancer development, treatment tolerance, and survivorship, and is committed to incorporating evidence-based lifestyle approaches into oncology practice to support patient wellbeing and outcomes.
